FROM THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS
The City has contracted with Ms. Brenda Gove, a Certified Maine Assessor from Calais, for the island wide revaluation of all real estate.
The purpose of this project is to equalize the property tax valuation and bring them into line with current market values ensuring equal and just taxation. The new values will be applied to next year’s property tax commitment.
Ms. Gove is planning to visit all the properties south of Washington Street in the next few weeks. Interior inspections will not be conducted but it may be necessary in some cases to inspect and measure the exterior of the buildings.
