Vital Records

The City Clerk records and maintains vital records (birth, death, and marriage)

The City of Eastport supplies, for a fee certified copies (with embossed seal), birth, marriage, and death records. Please call City Hall at 207-853-2300 for vital record copies and service fees.

Records can be obtained in person during regular office hours or requested by mail.

If sending an application by mail, please note:

As well as sending in a completed application, fee payment and self-addressed envelope, you will also need to provide a photocopy of your photo ID (driver’s license, passport, other government issued photo ID).

If you are requesting a record for someone other than yourself, you will need to provide proof of eligibility to request that record. This includes proof of lineage, proof of registered Domestic Partnership, genealogist state issued card, or if an attorney, a notarized release from the family.

If requesting an older record, we advise you to call us before mailing an application.

Applications

Marriage Intentions

Marriage intentions must be filed with the clerk in the city or town you are a resident of, or if a non-resident, they may be filed in any clerk's office in the State. The ceremony may take place anywhere within the State.

  • The bride and Groom must file together.
  • Identification required, i.e., birth certificate, driver's license, or passport.
  • Also, Social Security Numbers are required.
  • Filing Fee $40
  • If previously married, signed copies of the divorce papers or a certified copy of the death certificate are required.
  • Once the intentions are filed and the license is issued, the parties are free to marry anywhere within the State of Maine.
